Throughout the scene there’s a lot of quick shots and it’s a little all over the place and that adds the playfulness of Amelie’s (character) narrative. These acts help to open the door/push the narrative forward to the next chapter in her story, which will be her becoming strong/confident enough to make an interaction with her love interest.
The cut does work well with finer, thinner hair types, but you will get very different looks from these types of hair, since the amount of volume you can obtain varies on the amount of hair you are working with.
